Our Mission
Done with IT is a simple, secure and sustainable electronics reuse and recycling program from TERRA.
Through our mail-in, onsite and business services, TERRA’s helping to eliminate toxic electronic waste (e-waste) from contaminating the air, land and water by diverting used electronics to the care of e-Stewards and/or R2 Certified Recyclers. Certified Recyclers offer the only solution to manage the growing e-waste crisis and maximize the reuse and recycling of natural resources.
Digital inclusion
Digital inclusion is a cornerstone of Done with IT. Even before the pandemic, 34 million Americans lived without computers or internet access. In your community, right now, there are:
Children who cannot complete schoolwork at home.
Parents who cannot search for jobs.
Senior citizens that cannot search for essential services.
Young people struggling to make ends meet.
In cooperation with our Sponsors and Certified Recycling partners, Done with IT refurbishes a significant portion of the devices we collect to do good in your community. Working with local/regional governments and non-profits focused on digital inclusion, refurbished devices are redeployed to underserved fans and area residents.
Small devices such as laptops, smartphones and tablets are discarded at the highest rate and account for about 80% of the amount of electronic waste that is thrown away.
our approach
The e-waste challenge can be solved. But, it requires action from all of us. First, we must take responsibility for the electronic devices we buy and stop using.
Our homes and businesses are filled with devices that could be reused by someone else, but they are too often abandoned in a drawer, closet, garage or warehouse. Every day that a functional device sits, it provides zero value and exposes you to the risk of data breach…and it will likely find its way into the trash.
For devices that are either non-functional or too outdated for reuse, access to a sustainable, secure recycling provider is essential. The recycling of high-value materials such as gold, sliver, copper, palladium, etc. are critical to creating a circular, sustainable economy. And, more importantly, the safe recovery and processing of the dangerous toxins found in e-waste must be a priority to protect long-term human health and quality of life for generations to come.
“Well done is better than well said.”
