drop off to recycle your stRING lights at the walmart stores listed below until January 7, 2024
This year, to test a more sustainable solution for the millions of string lights that are thrown away, Walmart has partnered with TERRA (The Electronics Reuse & Recycling Alliance) and the Done with It program to pilot an onsite recycling program at 110 stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

Walmart customers may come to a participating store to drop-off their string lights in the green cardboard receptacle located in the front of the store that says, “Recycle Drop-Off".
Each holiday season, a flurry of businesses, communities, and lighting enthusiasts work tirelessly to bring magical holiday displays to life.
However, it's inevitable that millions of the holiday string lights used to decorate these displays will fail to survive the season and will be simply thrown away.
The improper disposal of these string lights represents a tremendous waste of valuable resources and will release toxins into the environment.
The results of this pilot program will help to determine if Walmart will expand the program in the future.
